Ricky James Pilots the SoCal SuperTrucks SuperLite to Victory in Utah (photos attached)

June 28, 2010 (San Bernardino, CA)—SoCal SuperTrucks and Ricky James finished off an event-filled weekend by winning the SuperLite class during Round 8 of the Lucas Oil Off Road Race Series this past weekend at Miller Motorsports Park outside Salt Lake City, UT.

The team’s race weekend kicked off on Friday, where the SuperLite class competed in a $6,000-purse, exhibition race for 2,000+ Miller Motorsports Park VIP’s. Ricky had an intense battle with Jeremy “Twitch” Stenberg throughout the race, taking the overall lead at the halfway point of the race. With 3 laps to go, James began to experience severe arm pump in his left arm, which controls the trucks gas, brakes, clutch and shifting. Ricky slowly faded back, saving his cramping arm for the weekend’s more-important point’s rounds.

Going in to Saturday, the first focus was to determine how to address the arm pump issues Ricky was experiencing. The use of a COMPEX muscle stimulator assisted in warming up James arm before practice and clearing the arm of lactic acid immediately after practice. James chose a new strategy by going easy until the mandatory caution, but couldn’t find a rhythm through the track’s most technical sections leaving him with a 5th place finish for the day. The crew immediately began diagnosing the trucks handling issues and quickly determined the suspension needed to be dramatically adjusted. With the help of Fox Racing Shox, a new set-up was installed late Saturday Night to compensate for Sunday’s inevitable rough track conditions.

James entered Sunday’s race day with a renewed confidence in himself and the truck, a combination that has eluded him so far this season. Ricky used qualifying to get comfortable with the new suspension settings and by race time was feeling unbeatable. James drove the SoCal SuperTrucks SuperLite to total domination, pulling away from the field before and after the mandatory caution, taking a well-deserved and overdue victory.

“I’ve had an 800-pound gorilla on my back and, this weekend, I knocked him out,” said Ricky James. “I can’t thank the SoCal SuperTrucks crew enough for the hard work and faith they have in me to work so hard. I want to express my thanks to all my sponsors like Rockwell, Bully Dog, BFGoodrich and Forgiven Energy for their support, as well as a special ‘thank you” to John Marking at Fox Racing Shox and Johnny Greaves for their help in dialing in my suspension. I am pumped for the rest of the season and can’t wait to get back out there.”

The SoCal SuperTrucks team would like to thank Rockwell Time for their gracious hospitality added support this weekend along with other current 2010 team sponsors, which include Bully Dog Technologies, BFGoodrich, Forgiven Energy, Walker Evans, K&N Filters, Alpinestars, Fox Suspension, EPIC Action Video Cams and AOKNick.org.

UTVUnderground.com Glamis Full Moon Night Run

June 28, 2010 Glamis, CA - UTVUnderground.com members headed out to Glamis Sand Dunes this past weekend for the annual Glamis Full Moon Summer Night Run.  20 + UTV's of all makes and models.  There were multiple Rotax powered Yamaha Rhinos, 1 Turbo RZR, a couple highly modified and built Kawasaki Teryx's, a highly modified Arctic Cat Prowler 1000, and one serious R1 powered Rhino buggy built by UTVUnderground member Stetler.  There were a host of other vehicles from mild to wild including the Polaris RZR4 Robby Gordon Edition that I took out with me.

We arrived in Glamis, CA just before sunset on Saturday June 26th and congregated just behind the Glamis Beach Store.  Once everyone was there we took off for our first run through the baby dunes to Oldsmobile Hill where we gathered on top and took in the amazing weather.  The riding continued long into the night and into the early morning hours.

I was super thrilled with how the Polaris RZR4 performed in what could have been the softest sand I have ever ridden in.  We aired down the stock Maxxis Big Horn tires, put the RZR4 in AWD and ran it with no major issues!   The RZR4 has Muzzys Dual Exhaust and a Digi-Tune Power Programmer so that helps in producing some extra power in that soft sand!

In all the weather was uber perfect and the riding was just as good.  None of the guys who come to the Glamis Full Moon Summer Night Run are rookies.  They are all fast and looking to extend their desert season just one more night!!!!

Keep posted to the UTVUnderground Trips and Group Rides Section for more upcoming group rides and trip reports.

Industry leaders join forces to get Jeremiah Jones back on the track

At Round 6 of the AMA ATV Motocross Series in Millville, MN, Jeremiah Jones was presented with a new race ready Polaris Ranger RZR. Right before the first Pro moto, Jeremiah was brought to the announcer's stage for an interview. In a surprise move, Jeremiah was then given the Ranger RZR. Jeremiah was all smiles as he crawled into his new side x side that was specifically outfitted with a gull wing driver's door and hand controls. Many of the top pros were on hand to congratulate Jeremiah on his new ride. Harold Goodman stated, "This is the coolest thing I've seen all year, I can't wait to see him drive it".

Jones took the Ranger RZR back home to Kentucky and has been putting it through the rounds on his practice track. After a lap on his track, Jeremiah said, "It blows me away that I have something like this! All I can say is that the machine handles like a dream. The wide stance of the Lone Star components and the Fox shocks are amazing. It rides so nice, it doesn't beat up my back. The best thing is that I have my freedom. It is like I have my legs all over again. Oh, and I get to jump the heck out of it! My family and I greatly appreciate everyone that contributed to the Ranger RZR. It's just time to go play and kick some butt. Thanks again to all the sponsors and to Wes Miller for making this possible."

H-Bomb Films, the Bomb Squad, Division 4, Polaris, Lone Star Racing, Fox Shox, Hiper Wheels, Maxxis Tires, PRP Racing , Fullbore Plastics, IMG Motorsports, All Toys Performance, FMF, K&N Filters, Motion Pro, and Dana Creech Racing all worked together to make this project a reality. Wes Miller, of H-Bomb Films, summarized it best, "I would really like to thank all of the companies that made this happen. We are all so grateful to see Jeremiah back out on the track. It has been tough to see all he and his family have endured and it is a great feeling to see Jeremiah in the Ranger RZR with a huge grin on his face. It is amazing to see him roosting and jumping again."
